I was born in 1971 in Yugoslavia and moved to London in 1991. My first love was acting. I studied Lee Strasberg Method acting. It was my first experience of being taught how to create a character and what elements a strong character must have. Just by chance I stumbled upon the world of events and corporate entertainment through a colleague. To my surprise this took me on the creative journey that developed my passion for writing. In 1996 I founded the theatre company “Attention Seekers”, specializing in corporate and event entertainment. I started designing costume characters, writing short scripts and creating performances, mostly comedy. Characters would perform these short sketches as they circulate around an event. We worked at a wide range of events in the UK and abroad. I learned more skills along the way, stilt walking and balloon modeling. I was also teaching children's drama and developing performances with 8-12 years olds in school clubs, for L'Ouverture Trust LTD, Goldsmiths Collage and for Rise Phoenix. Around 2002 I felt as if I needed to explore
and widen my creative horizons. I started working in children's
television, working for Nickelodeon for several years as a
production assistant on the live-action program “The Crunch”. I then
went freelance and started writing my own material. I felt that my
characters needed somewhere to belong. At the same time I started
researching the world of picture books and children’s books with my
friend and illustrator, Sandy Thornton. One of the great skills that
I learned during my golden days of corporate entertainment was
balloon modelling. Working as a balloon
modeller I started exploring the many possibilities to which
balloons could lend themselves, eventually creating the TV show
Ballooniville with my husband, David Crofts. Ballooniville consisted
of 26 episodes and was broadcast from 2012. It was an
educational and live action series mixing arts and crafts and unique
balloon animation. Writing and creating characters is my passion.
